Definition

An IVF protocol using GnRH agonist (Lupron) downregulation for 2-4 weeks before ovarian stimulation begins.

In IVF Treatment

The long protocol provides thorough pituitary suppression before stimulation begins. It takes longer than antagonist protocols but allows very controlled synchronization and is used for some complex cases including prior OHSS or irregular cycles.
