Lining Check
procedureDefinition
An ultrasound to measure the thickness and pattern of the endometrium (uterine lining) before embryo transfer.
In IVF Treatment
Most clinics look for a minimum lining thickness of 7-8 mm with a trilaminar (triple-layer) pattern before proceeding with transfer. Thin lining can delay transfer while additional treatment is tried.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if my lining is too thin?
Your doctor may extend estrogen supplementation, try vaginal estrogen, add Viagra suppositories, or recommend a hysteroscopy to check for intrauterine issues. Transfer may be postponed to the next cycle if the lining does not reach adequate thickness.
